Music Lessons and Master Classes: Private and Group Instruction in Clarinet & Saxophone

As a classically-trained professional performing artist with over 20 years of music-related experience and 15 years of teaching experience, I have worked with students of all ages and levels, from the novice to the advanced player, both in the classroom and in my private teaching studio.
 
My goal as a music educator is to instill in my students a genuine lifelong appreciation and aesthetic sense for music as an art form, help students develop an understanding of the vital importance of music in our world and our communities, to help foster creative intellectual inquiry and practice, and guide students in finding a medium for self-expression while striving for personal and musical fulfillment of the highest artistic caliber.
 
As a fierce advocate of music education, I believe musical training, music-making and developing a practice in music not only empowers young people in their own ability to create and express themselves artistically, but also helps develop critical learning and life skills.
 
My teaching philosophy is based on fostering a love for creative self-expression and using the creative process to put vision into practice, helping students to develop effective practicing skills and understand the value of daily practice in music and in other aspects of life skills development outside of music. I encourage independent thinking, creative inquiry, self-empowerment and experimentation, while providing a solid foundation in the understanding of music and music theory, as well as the highest quality of pedagogical instruction in instrumental technique and musical expression, practice skills and performance. I guide my students to develop emotional awareness, build poise and confidence, and strong communication, performance and social skills.
